Shave & Gibson (S&G) has bolstered its digital secure printing environment with secure web printing from Industrial Inkjet (IIJ).
Shave & Gibson understood that a move to inkjet technology for wider web applications was inevitable and needed a customised print solution that would suit their environment and complement their current expertise with toner-based security printing devices.
“We partnered with Shave & Gibson to supply a retrofit solution to be added to a proprietary developed transport media base” says Pieter Le Grange, Manager of IIJ in South Africa.“ We supplied the inkjet solution with the addition of the latest GEW LED UV cure solutions to ensure Shave & Gibson had a good finished product.
The latest inline variable data security code solution was manufactured by IIJ. IIJ’s Print Engine adds various codes to the printed media at high speeds. The IIJ solution also records the time and date stamp as well as the operator’s details when required.
“Recording those details gives Shave & Gibson a crucial traceability feature that enables them to track any issues that may arise in the process,” says Le Grange.
“The IIJ solution was designed to print at speeds of up to 200 metres a minute,” says Le Grange. “This meant IIJ had to create a solution that didn’t impede the features of the media transport base. The result now is that Shave & Gibson can produce any form with variable UV features.”
“IIJ’s solutions enable future growth of our operations and secure printing capabilities,” says Jim Short, Managing Director of the Security Printing Division at Shave & Gibson. “They have bolstered our governance and oversight capabilities while ensuring we deliver a premium product to our customers. The flexibility and ease of use also made this an easy transition for our employees who required the minimum instruction on using the new solutions.”
