Changes to tax stamp legislation and standards lead to an increase in opportunities for IIJ

    Posted on

Recent changes to international legislation on Tax and Duty stamps has led to an upturn in interest in IIJ’s high speed MonoPrint HiQ Print Engines.

In June 2018, World Health Organisation Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) protocol became active giving suppliers five years to implement global track and trace systems for tobacco products. This was closely followed by ISO standard ISO22382:2018 in October, widening the scope of track and trace applications. This of course means a need for digital print.

IIJ has already supplied it’s MonoPrint 520 HiQ into a number of sites worldwide, printing black and covert inks onto tax stamps, and sees this business growing at an accelerating rate.

The versatility of the IIJ system in terms of ink technology and the pure productivity of the Konica Minolta KM1800i printhead, means that 600dpi printing at 200m per minute is achieved from a single print unit.

Working with market leading security ink supplier Luminescence Sun Chemical Security these solutions aim to stay one step ahead of the counterfeiters. Available inks include, UV fluorescent, Machine readable, and IR visible, along with CMYK inks.

IIJ has hardware solutions for high speed splice avoidance as well as software solutions and partnerships with vision system suppliers that allow a complete solution for the customer, often fitted to a conventional press to produce a hybrid solution. These can be roll to roll or sheet fed.
