Do I need an NDA before discussing my project?
This depends on your project. IIJ and the KM printhead team within IIJ are happy to discuss the specifics of your project with you from our first conversation. However, if you are sharing proprietary information or if you need confidential printhead technology information from us, we should have an NDA in place. For printhead discussions a Konica Minolta three-way NDA is required, however for IIJ print modules, we are happy to review our customer's two-way NDAs.

What information should I provide when contacting about a new inkjet project?
Some of the basic information that our sales team need in order to discuss your inkjet project include the following: print application, print speed, print width, regulatory requirements and preferred lead time.
Can IIJ help me navigate regulations within my market?
Yes, whilst we aren't responsible for ensuring your final product meets regulatory requirements, we have the knowledge and expertise to help you ensure they do.
Printhead
What's the difference between analogue and digital waveforms?
A digital waveform is a electrical signal made form defined voltage steps to control ink formation and firing. A analog waveform uses continuously varying voltage levels to shape the piezo movement.
Is it possible to have multiple colours in one Konica Minolta Printhead?
Konica Minolta have recently released the KM1800iSHK-DC. This printhead features a dual-colour jetting architecture inside a slim 24mm profile. This design allows it to jet two different colours of ink simultaneously from a single unit to save installation space and simplify set up.
Can IIJ help me choose the Konica Minolta printhead that's right for my application?
Yes we can. The KM team here at IIJ are experts in advising and supporting our customers in choosing the best printhead for their application, market and future plans.
What is the lifespan of a Konica Minolta printhead?
Printheads can deliver 5-7 years of service life, depending on the application. Variables such as environment, duty cycle, maintenance, filtration, start-up/shutdown routines, contamination, clogging and impact can all also play a role in affecting a printheads lifespan.
Print Modules
What print speeds can IIJ achieve?
The IIJ print modules are designed for a wide range of KM printheads meaning that depending on your desired result, we have the technology to support you. With a single row of printheads and a 40% colour density for example, IIJ print modules can reach over 170m/min. With a double row of printheads, printing for example, QR codes in black, our MonoPrint XPi range can reach speeds of up to 300m/min. Full colour printing however, due to the high lay down of ink, reach standard speeds of around 100m/min. It all depends on your application, contact us to find out more.
Can IIJ print onto uneven surfaces?
Depending on throw-distance required, IIJ may have the print module to suit you. Using the latest in Konica Minolta printhead technology, IIJ is currently testing on materials requiring throw distances of up to 10mm. This is a game changer for the coding and marking industry and can be utilised for applications with uneven surfaces.

Can IIJ supply a complete inkjet System?
Yes, this is a large part of what we do! Many of our customers do not want to develop their own inkjet printers and require a plug and play solution that can be retrofitted seamlessly into their current production line. IIJ has 20+ of retrofitting experience.
Can IIJ test my ink and substrate?
The IIJ samples team tests materials from end users, OEMs, ink suppliers and current customers daily. Generally, our customers ask us to recommend the best ink for their application and market. However, from time to time we are asked to test a brand new ink set. To find out more, follow the links to our ink testing page.
Can IIJ engineer bespoke or non-standard projects?
Yes, we have a list of non-standard additions and changes that can be found on our modifications page. Our ability to modify your inkjet system depends on your projects market, substrate, module requirement and more, so we need to know as much information as possible. Please be aware that modifications may come at extra cost and longer lead times.
