IIJ Expands its Facility | | IIJ expanded its facility in Cambridgeshire at the end of June.
We have expanded into a new unit, still on Glebe Farm Campus. This doubles our print laboratory area. Most Konica Minolta IJ customers take advantage of our expertise in determining the optimum “recipe” for printing onto their product, with the result that the most weeks we have been running the lab at almost 100% capacity. The new facility will allow us to increase our productivity on print sample work, while offering improved facilities for visiting customers.

IIJ at Drupa 2008 |  | Drupa was a huge success for us.
We showed five demo units:-
X Printer
This is a concept model of a high resolution wide-format printer. It used 4pl Konica Minolta heads. It ran Konica Minolta Cationic U ink cured by LED lamps.
SPM0320 HR
This demonstration was of the Konica Minolta SPM0320HR single pass print engine. The unit was printing fully variable labels including barcodes. A barcode verification system on the stand enables customers to check the print quality. 720x720dpi print enables tiny “D matrix codes to eb reproduced with very high quality.
SPL2130
This demonstration of the SPL2130 was running at 60m/minute ay 360 x 180 dpi, again printing fully variable information. Cationic UV ink was used.
KM1024 SH demonstration
This unit was printing photo-resolution images using 4 of the new KM1024SH printheads. The printheads were printing upto 7 x 6pl drops greyscale at 360x360dpi.
Cationic UV ink was used.
The demonstration used an extremely simple “passive” ink system ie an ink box and a pipe to the printhead.
Colourprint 108
This demonstration was of the Colourprint 108 system. 108mm wide print, CMYK, greyscale running at 18m/minute.
At the show this system exceeded all expectation by running for 7 days without any maintenance and without missing a single nozzle.
Most evenings we were able to print samples for customer’s directly onto their own material.
Although we had a large team from IIJ and Konica Minolta on the stand, we were extremely busy throughout the show. We would like to apologise to the many customers who visited the stand but we were unable to talk to.
